Power Your Future - WIND ENERGY...


Once again, Clinton is leaning forward and providing what the community needs. In this case, it's college-level training in Wind Energy and Turbine Technology. How cool is that! The Wind Energy & Turbine Technology A.A.S. degree program offered at Clinton Community College will prepare students to maintain and repair wind turbines. The program is focused on skill based training considering the electrical and mechanical aspects of the turbine.The Wind Energy & Turbine Technology program offered at Clinton Community College is one of few currently being offered to students in the nation.In Clinton County alone over 400 turbines will be completed by 2009, and it is projected that two wind turbine technicians will be need for every 10 turbines.If you have: - Mechanical aptitude - Physical ability to climb the tower (260'), work at that height, and in close quarters - Reasonable math skills - Desire to work outside - Interst in renewable energy technologythen this is a program you should be considering. Board of Trustees Recommend Jablonski as Next CCC President

The Board of Trustees for Clinton Community College, at their December 16, 2008 board meeting, approved a resolution recommending John Jablonski as the next president of Clinton Community College. Upon approval of the State University of New York Board of Trustees, Jablonski will begin his new position on June 1, 2009. Jablonski is currently Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, New York. His career with the State University of New York spans 22 years and he has established a record of community college leadership as well as being a leader in the community.

Jablonski and Dr. Patrick Schmitt, campus executive officer and dean at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha were the finalists for the position following a nationwide search.
"This certainly is the right fit,” said Nina Coolidge, CCC Board of Trustees, Chair and search committee chair, "we are all very comfortable with our choice and look forward to working with John.”

Jablonski holds a Master of Science in Engineering (Bioengineering) from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1986, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College, Schenectady, New York, 1983, and an Associate in Science (Engineering Science) from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Johnstown, New York, 1981. He is presently matriculated in the Ph.D. Program, Educational Administration and Policy Studies, at the University of Albany.

During his career, Jablonski served as Acting President at Fulton-Montgomery from July 2005 to July 2006. He also held positions as Vice President and Dean of the College, Dean of Business and Technology, and he was a member of the faculty as Professor of Engineering Science. His professional affiliations include, the Association of Presidents of Public Community Colleges, SUNY Association of Chief Academic Officers (current president), New York Transfer and Articulation Association, SUNY Two-Year Engineering Science Association (past president), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

“When I applied for the position at Clinton Community College, I thought that it would be an excellent fit for the college and for me and my family,” said Jablonski. “Everything that I’ve seen and heard during the selection process has made me even more sure that this is the place for me.” He explained, “The students, faculty and staff have impressed me with their dedication, their enthusiasm and their kindness. The community leaders that I’ve met are very supportive of the college. They recognize what an asset it is. The trustees, the administration, Interim President Woodward and his wife Carol have made Kelly and me feel like we belong here.”
Jablonski is a lifelong resident of upstate New York, he and his wife Kelly have two daughters in college. He said, “We are looking forward to becoming part of the community, and I am looking forward to providing the leadership that will help CCC to realize its full potential.”

Clinton Community College is located off Route 9 just south of Plattsburgh, New York. The College is proud of its academic programs, excellent teachers and facilities, low tuition, and small class size. Approximately 2,200 students attend the college known for its academically acclaimed programs in nursing, criminal justice, liberal arts, and technology. The joint admissions program with the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and other 2+2 transfer agreements are available to Clinton students who wish a four-year degree. CCC Foundation raffle to Florida Vacation...

The CCC Foundation is offering a chance to enjoy an incredible trip valued at $2,535 for the purchase of a $100 donation to the Nikolas Michaud Memorial Nursing Scholarship.

The Drawing will take place December 31, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the 2nd floor lobby of the main academic building. Trip dates are January 9 - 16, airfare not included.
